Not (yet) a rider? Love Vikings, the Icelandic sagas, or Norse myths? This is the tour for you! Guided by author Nancy Marie Brown, we explore the Iceland of saga-master Snorri Sturluson and Viking Egil Skallagrimsson. We visit museums and saga sites, glaciers, volcanoes, hotsprings, waterfalls, and beaches, and enjoy gourmet meals based on local specialties.
Come join Hestaland’s first-ever Riding & Knitting Retreat! This all-inclusive seven-day retreat combines two hobbies that run deep in Icelandic culture. Knitters and riders of all levels will be in for an unforgettable experience of knitting under the midnight sun and delightful horseback riding through the Borgarfjördur area, which is known for its beautiful and extensive trail options.
Jennifer Browdy, an award-winning author, veteran college professor of literature and writing, and lifelong horse lover, will guide participants on a noncompetitive, encouraging journey of skill-building and self-discovery, combining stimulating horseback riding with inspiring writing exercises and community-building for writers of fiction, memoir, and travel writing, as well as contemplative journal writers.
Winter Workshops are fitting for those who are serious about taking their riding level and training skills to the next level. Riders of all levels will have the rare learning opportunity to be a supervised, assistant trainer at our 37-horse training operation for one week.
