Hestaland’s Riding Retreat is a customizable experience, as its dual schedules allow you to choose how you spend your days.
If you’d like to dedicate the majority of your time to improving your riding you will have the opportunity to polish your skills via lessons, lectures, and demos given by Gudmar Petursson and his assistant trainers. Meanwhile, if you’d prefer a more relaxed, pleasure-riding-focused experience, you can choose to dedicate the majority of your time to being out on the trails and taking in the beauty of West Iceland. Like a bit of both? No problem — you can create a blend that suits your goals for the week.
Regardless, all riders will ride twice per day and have the opportunity to learn more about the Icelandic horse, its stunning gaits, and what makes the breed so unique. Upon determining your riding level and gaining an understanding of exactly what you want to learn or hone in on, we will match you with horses to ride throughout the week.
Groups will be based on experience level, making it easy to accommodate various riding levels. The goal is to help you become a better rider and send you home more knowledgeable about riding, training, and the Icelandic horse in general.
Hestaland’s Riding Retreat is ideal for both serious students and trail riders who’d like to enjoy the Icelandic horse during the day and home cooked meals and relaxation in the evenings.
